We are lucky enough to list a number of amazing Dunsborough Holiday Homes on our site. They are managed and maintained by dedicated property managers and holiday homeowners who take pride in their houses. These hosts go out of their way to bring their guests joy. We will list a selection of properties that we have on offer through our site. Keep in mind that for all of these properties, our booking fees are only 5%, compared to our competitors 20%.
For this 5%, you can be assured that these properties actually exist (as we ensure registration with the City of Busselton) and are well maintained (we have relationships with the property managers and owners). WA HomeStay knows the local area and the businesses that pride themselves in guest relations. If you want to share in some of the magic family holiday suggestions we make, don’t forget to book on our site: https://wahomestay.com.au. Remember for every booking made, we donate $1 to Telethon.
We have three children under the age of 10 (three being the youngest). So we know, there is no such thing as a “perfect” day out with kids. There is the last minute toilet stop, which makes you late for a reservation or a child who “forgot” to put shoes on but snuck into the car without anyone noticing. However, thankfully the South West has a LOT of amazing family – friendly locations that make family days easier. So here is one of our favourite itineraries.
Eat Breakfast at home in your holiday home and make sure kids are well fuelled for the day. Bonus = cheap!
Take your fishing lines down to Quindalup beach and let the kids fish of the beach in the morning. The older children might have the patience and be able to hold the line. The younger kids can do beach stuff ie. build sandcastles, nudie runs into the water etc. Local tip = if you fish near Quindalup boat ramp, throw the line in after a boat has taken off… the fish like the kicked up sand 🙂
Once you are sick of the sand/ baiting fish, pack up, wash hands and quick change if necessary and then off to the next Stage. If kids have lasted to lunch time – head to Barnyard 1978 on Caves Road, Yallingup. It’s about 20 mins away from Dunsborough town. Pasta is the main menu item but the small playground is within sight of the outdoor tables, making it possible for Mum and Dad to enjoy a well deserved drink while the young ones play. They also have honey tasting, the variety of tastes from the different trees/types is astounding. Local tip = the roaming chickens delight the children but can by feisty, nothing hospital worthy (hopefully) but worth having a chat with excited young ones.
Rock climbing at Canal Rocks. Continue down the road from Barnyard 1978 to Canal Rocks. Enjoy the mountain goat style climbing
of the rocks, always remembering to keep an eye on the ocean for King Waves. Great way to burn off the honey tasting and any lasting energy the kids have. Gorgeous scenery and awe inspiring wave action. A long time favourite of ours and our kids.
Either cook dinner or order takeaway from the amazing restaurants around Dunsborough. The new burger joint, Bayside Burgers is amazing and does takeaway. Otherwise Oh! Delhi, oh my goodness, this Indian is AMAZING and delivers within 5km!!!!
