From our experiences as holiday home owners…Read More
One of our points of difference is that we only allow registered WA holiday homes to list on our site. Owners are required to upload their council registration document before their listing can be published. We have also been working with local councils and are getting many of them to check addresses and confirm their ongoing registration with them. If a local council does not require holiday homes to be registered, owners upload their rates notice instead. This gives guests peace of mind that the holiday home exists. It also means properties have met the minimum standards required by local councils. Usually this means having adequate parking and space to accomodate the number of guests. Houses, depending on their location, may also be required to meet bushfire safety regulations.
Unregistered holiday homes can cause issues for the local community. An unchecked rise in holiday home accommodation can threaten the essence of holiday destinations. This is especially true during tourism boom periods. Many alternative accommodation providers, are wary of the increase in unregistered holiday homes. It makes it harder for them to successfully run their businesses. We believe a variety of accommodation types should be able to co-exist in tourism areas. The council should have the right to determine the number of holiday homes and other accommodation options in their area. They can then find the balance between accommodating tourists and having sufficient residential homes for locals to use.
Our WA holiday homes are mostly located in the South West. This is where we first launched our site, as our holiday home is in this area. 80% of tourists to the South West are from within Western Australia. Consequently, we are initially focusing our marketing within West Australia’s borders.
Since our launch we have been approached by houses in Esperance, Hopetoun and Joondalup. Home Owners and property managers have been very supportive of a local booking platform. A large majority have experienced the same frustration at the international booking platforms that we have being holiday home owners. Currently we have accommodation in the following areas: Fremantle, Mundaring, Preston Beach, Peppermint Grove Beach, Busselton, Dunsborough, Yallingup, Wilyabrup, Metricup, Gracetown, Margaret River, Prevelly, Augusta, Denmark, Hopetoun and Esperance.
We list a wide range of WA holiday homes. They vary from gorgeous properties on Estates that accommodate 20 people, to holiday homes perfect for a quick, affordable getaway. We are also lucky enough to have amazing bed and breakfasts and farm stays listed on our platform too.
Many homes we have listed allow pets. Being able to bring your furry friend with you on your holiday can save a lot of hassle and make your holiday more enjoyable. There are some adult only retreats, so you can enjoy the peacefulness of no children being around. In contrast to this, plenty of other homes are specifically geared up for families and extended families.
Western Australia has an amazing variety of tourist attractions. From breathtaking white sands and crystal blue waters, to incredible local produce and beautiful bushland. Some of our WA Holiday Homes are perfectly situated to take advantage of West Australian’s gorgeous beaches. Others are nestled away in the bush, creating a nature escape to reinvigorate your soul. Many are close to award winning wineries, restaurants and other tourist attractions.
This diversity in accommodation means there is a house/accommodation to suit everyone.
WA Holiday homes are almost a right of passage for West Australians. Staying with your extended family and friends creates lifelong memories. Being able to cook together, wake up from a big night and swap stories in your pyjamas or have grandkids jump on Nana and Papa in the morning, are all possible when staying in a holiday home. Holiday homes are a great way to split the cost of the accommodation across two or more families. Budgets, especially for families, are tight. Sharing the costs of your accommodation with the people you love, can be what makes it affordable enough to getaway.
Many families love being able to have a fully stocked fridge and the ability to make food when children need it. Rather than having to go to restaurants for every meal, holiday homes allows families to prepare their own food. This means they can spend their money on the amazing tourist attractions close by.
Bed and Breakfasts are a great way to travel and get local tips from the host. Bed and Breakfast hosts are a wealth of knowledge about their area. Make sure you take the time to talk to them and find out their suggestions for where to go or eat. Farm Stays are also a wonderful accommodation option. Children and adults alike delight in seeing the farm animals and the wide open spaces that are part of farm life. We also have some apartments which are a part of resort complexes. These are privately owned apartments where guests can enjoy the facilities of the resort complex.
At WA HomeStay we want to help you find your perfect “home away from home”. What do you want from your holiday?
