What type of WA holiday homes do we list?
- About Us
From our experiences as holiday home owners and as guests, we believe that online booking platforms should:
Be Fair for Both Guests and Owners
Care about the Local Community they are Operating In
While renting out our WA holiday home we watched as international booking platforms kept increasing their guest fees. We believed we could offer the same homes to guests, for less. Hence, why WA HomeStay was born. A local booking platform for WA holiday accommodation. Booking with us means a saving up to $100* in booking fees for a standard weekend. That is a lot more money in your pocket then ours! We are also only allowing registered holiday homes to list on our platform. Giving our guests peace of mind that the properties actually exist and helping our WA holiday destinations achieve sustainable tourism.
We could not have got to this point, without the support of the homeowners and property managers. It is not easy launching a new website. Things go wrong and you need to make adjustments along the way. The property managers and homeowners that have stuck with us throughout this journey are incredible. They are passionate about supporting a local WA company. Their professionalism, support and dedication to their guests, can not be overstated. Mark and I are incredibly grateful to be working with such wonderful business people.
Our vision is to provide West Australians with a booking platform that charges less. Being a small, local company we don’t have the overheads of the larger international platforms. This means we can offer our guests great value, only charging them a 5% booking fee, while our competitors charge up to 20%. Further, because we are locals, we know the holiday destinations and can provide some great local tips to make our guests stay even more memorable.
Through our experience as a holiday homeowner we know what is important to hosts. We are upfront about our fees, for both the hosts and the guests (there is no ambiguous range of fees). This allows our hosts to make informed decisions about their rates and profit margins. We understand cash flow is king and is very important for our homeowners. By passing on our guest’s money to our hosts straight away, this gives them timely access to money which is rightfully theirs.
Finally, if hosts or guests have any issues in relation to their listing or reservations, we are here to help. Our business depends on customer service, so providing the best possible solutions to your problems is in our best interests.
It is also important to us, to give back to the WA community as well. To do this we are donating $1 for every booking made through our site to Telethon. We also offer our guests $20 vouchers for rebooking in 6 months time or referring a friend who books in the same timeframe. Instead of offering a standard Coles voucher we decided to offer a $20 voucher to a local business in the guest’s holiday destination. This has been hugely supported by local businesses around WA and is another way we are giving back to the WA community.
Sustainable tourism is also very important to us at WA HomeStay. We only allow registered holiday accommodation to list on our site, where required by the local council. Homeowners and property managers have to provide proof of their council registration before a home can be published. We have taken this extra step for two reasons: Firstly, it gives guests peace of mind that the property actually exists. Secondly, it helps local communities ensure their is sustainable tourism in their area. This is important for the local community to retain the essence of what makes their area so fabulous to begin with.
One of the things that excites us the most about WA HomeStay is our ability to offer our followers amazing West Australian deals. So often the international platforms offer deals that West Australians can’t take advantage of. Being a local company, advertising West Australian properties means we can have direct communication with the owners and property managers. If they have a vacancy on a given weekend that they are keen to book, they can contact us to advertise a special. This means our followers can get these last minute deals, for a cheeky weekend away. It is good for our hosts and great for our guests.
We also love the idea of offering special deals, like zero % booking fees for guests. These sporadic deals provide great value for our followers and increases business for our property owners. Being a small company, with lower overheads, we can afford to provide these specials to our followers.
Now that we have a website that is mobile friendly and has more of the attributes we wanted, we can now focus on becoming a household name in Western Australia. WA is renowned for being a close interlinked community. We are banking on the two degrees of separation within WA, rather than the normal six. A social media marketing push, as well as using local media is our next step. By providing the same accommodation but for less, guests can tell their friends and family to grow our brand recognition.
We know that our competitors have a multi-million advertising budget. They are also renowned for “sand boxing” competitors so they can not be found in internet search results. There is no point trying to beat them in this field. So we need West Australians to get behind us, support a local company and take advantage of our reduced booking fees. Social media is a great way to do this. It is also the way we communicate our great last minute deals and specials to our followers. So if you haven’t, follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram to take advantage of our hot deals.
Finally, we want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us on this journey thus far. There is real support for a local booking platform and we hope to make WA HomeStay a household name within Western Australia. Tell your friends and your family about the new Western Australian booking platform providing great last minute deals and cheaper booking rates. The bigger multinationals might have huge advertising budgets, but in Western Australia, everyone is connected in one way or another. This community support, will help us provide West Australians with better value holidays and better customer service.
